This is the book from the 2006 Harvard student plagiarism controversy. I was reminded of it with all the
Fifty Shades drama.

To be fair, I haven't read the book from which Viswanathan allegedly plagiarized, but at the time I remember thinking it seemed to be a case of one mediocre book with trite sentences copied from another. The book was eventually pulled from stores and destroyed.
I find it somewhat ironic that the examples of suspected plagiarism here are relatively subtle when compared to the similarities between Fifty Shades of Grey and Twilight (there's a good example in
this review). And yet Stephenie Meyer
seems pretty unconcerned about it all.
